Cogs 17 quizlet2/28/2023 ![]() ![]() basically always spelled out some of the hardest questions on the exam during her review sessions, so make sure you attend those and pay special attention to what she says!įor extra credit, go to the talks etc. and often got stuff wrong himself, so don’t waste time going to discussion if that’s the case for you: I don’t think the TAs know anything more than us about the exam contents. I had a shitty TA who basically copied the quizlets etc. Along with that, if you attend lectures and review sessions regularly, you should not have trouble with them, try to remember the visual cues Prof. My first midterm I basically only took those notes, studied them semi-regularly during the weeks leading up and got 100%.įor diagrams, print them and put them on your table/wall where you can see them often. explained, but writing stuff/making diagrams by your own hand is extremely underrated IMO. Take notes voraciously: For me, this worked extremely well, I would usually be furiously writing stuff as Prof. I also took COGS 17 last quarter and got an A+(over 100% actually I think thanks to extra credit), here’s my advise for the class: It is included in my COGS 17 folder above as a study aid. I do not recommend copying homework answers, but I am providing these as a guide. Basically I tried to combine only the relevant content from the slides with the outline, so that way I could turn those two into one. So as I mentioned before I love drawing diagrams, but not all of us have the time / capabilities to draw good diagrams for notes. QUIZLETS! it's pretty easy to find these online but I'll attach the ones I used anyways :) Midterm 1 Midterm 2 Midterm 3 Cumulative Final It is also worth more points than the cumulative! *For the final, when Midterm 3 and the Cumularive Final are in the same testing period, I would reccomend studying for Midterm 3 first and putting atleast 3/5 of your energy into that. But I swear if you just go through it a few times and review the ones you struggled with, you'll be ready for the test. These quizlets were pretty big and daunting, I'm talking 200 - 500 terms. I would only use the internet as LAST resort.įinally, once my homework was done, I would spend the whole day before the test reviewing quizlets with all the terms and definitions. If I couldn't find it in my notes I would pull up Johnson's lecture outline. I would try to use my notes to complete the homework. Then I would do the Homework, which is basically an outline for everything that you will be tested on. To take notes and learn the lectures, I would pull up the lecture notes and lecture slides split screen and try to write info AND draw diagrams if it helped me visualize what was going onĪ few days before the test I would revisit the material. It didn't help that when I took this course, it was at 9pm. I had a very busy and conflicting schedule, so I had to take a lot of notes and learn a lot outside of the lecture. For bigger concepts try to have a basic understanding, but for some smaller things (for example the Raphe Nuclei is located in the Pons and releases 5HT), you just gotta memorize it. There are some things you will want to take the time to properly understand, but trust me some of this stuff will make no fucking sense and you'll just have to memorize it. Use your discernment as to what seems importantīUT there are also some things on her lecture slides not mentioned in the outline that you will need to know! SOME DIAGRAMS ARE VERY IMPORTANT - In the second midterm particularly, majority of the test is just being asked to draw diagrams of certain processes / systems.įor the lecture slides, not all pictures and diagrams are important to know for the class. ![]() If there's a whole bullet point or chunk of text with no highlights, it is just there to increase your understanding and connection with the material - you will not be tested on it. Pay attention to what terms and concepts are being underlined in the lecture notes. You can actually do fairly well by just studying directly from the lecture notes, slides, and assigned homeworks I had to really bust my ass for this class, but I thought I would give some tips as well as share all materials I used to study for the class. ![]() Given the competitive nature of the class, I wish I had more help back when I took it. Hey ya'll! COGS 17 is a pretty rough class, especially for an under division course. ![]()
